- Regina, Saskatchewan - @ University of Regina Grass fields (North & South of turf)
- Games begin at 1:00 pm - Minimum four 30 minute games - Top 4 teams advance to playoffs - Maximum six games played including finals.

- Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - Location TBD
- Games begin at 1:00 pm - Minimum 3 games - Top team advances to final (most wins and points for) - #2 vs #3 winner advances to final - more details coming soon.
Community Sport – Flag Initiation - Coaches Clinic

The workshop has been designed to prepare community coaches to meet the needs of children in community sport by training them to do the tasks of the outcomes described below. These multi-sport outcomes represent the minimum standard for the training certification of community coaches within a competency-based NCCP
General Outcomes- Plan a Practice
- Provide support to athletes in training
- Support the Football Experience
- Make Ethical Decisions
- Expressing a community sport coaching philosophy
- Making decisions when you are faced with legal or ethical situation that are likely to occur in your coaching environment
- Understanding the basic rules and equipment
- Coaching games/activities that is suitable for children in this context
- Modifying a pre-designed practice
- Identifying the tasks as a community coach
- Teaching the basic skills for flag football
- U16 Roughies Division : Grades 8 & 9 – Born 1997 & 1998
- U18 Riders Division : Grades 10 & 11 – Born 1995 & 1996
This year will be our 2nd season offering a competitive brand of fun, fast, flag football for both Boys & Girls in Under 16 & Under 18 age categories. Last year was the first time we offered this league and had two teams from Saskatoon represent very well at Nationals. We are dedicated to improve this competitive league and would love to see our participation numbers grow!

We are encouraging coaches to register as a team on-line with a minimum of 5 and maximum of 8 players. Saskatoon Minor Football and Football Saskatchewan will cover the cost of entry into the National Tournament for 7 players, 1 coach & 1 manager. Only 7 players are allowed to be a part of the National roster. We will accept individual participant registrations but we cannot guarantee a team to play on. SMF League fees per player are $80. Note : teams will have to provide their own jerseys and equipment.

Competitive Game Play / Highlighted Rules

General
- Field Dimenstions : U16 - 60yards x 30yards, U18 - 80yards x 20yards
- 2 x 25 minute halves
- 2 minute warning whistle prior to end of half and game
- Each offensive team has 30 seconds to snap the ball when then ball is spotted and whistled in
- Each team has 2 time outs per half

Offense
- Offensive possession will start on their own 5 yard line
- Offense has 3 downs to cross midfield / if successful has another 3 downs to score
- If offense fails ball possession will go to opposition will start from their 5 yard line
- Ball inside the 5 yard line (going into end zone) is the no running zone (must pass)
- No flag guarding or shielding your flag while possessing the ball
- No jumping or diving while possessing the ball one foot must be on the ground while running
- Rusher interference (centre must avoid defensive rusher)

Defense
- 1 yard cushion must be given by all defenders on the snap
- Designated rusher must be 7 yards of the ball / 1 yard either side of the rusher bag
- Interceptions are live and can be returned for points
- Ball is spotted where the hips are of the flagged offensive player
- All defensive players are eligible to rush once the ball has been handed off or tossed or if there is a play action fake or fake hand off
Officials will be trained by SMF to referrer the games, set up the fields, keep track of the time, and assess all penalties in a true sport fair play manner. Officials will not tolerate any verbal abuse from players, coaches or fans.
We had a lot of FUN last year and we our looking forward to improving the U 16 & U 18 football skill development in Saskatoon this Spring!!!

All penalties are 5 yards except for major fouls and objectionable conduct. The down repeated and will be assessed from line of scrimmage.

- Foul play will not be tolerated.
- Trash talking and taunting is illegal.
- Cheap shots or unsportsmanlike acts will result in the player being ejected.
